5 Ways To Let Your Unique Personality Shine in Your Style

5 Ways To Let Your Unique Personality Shine in Your Style

Sometimes each day can feel like a battle against the pre-defined boxes the world tries so desperately to place you in. Style and fashion choices can feel the same.

Are you ~trendy~ and gen z? Are you a millennial style? Are you older than that?

Do you dress like a mom should? Like a teacher should? Like a wife should? Like an artist should? Like a person of your background should? Like a professional career woman should?

The constant push to market and categorize is exhausting, and can make you feel like who YOU are gets lost in the shuffle.

We’re here to remind you that your style is YOURS. Whatever that means to you.

You are your own unique person, and style is one of the easiest ways to express that and show the world who you are. Here are just a few ways you can do that.

1. Wear jewelry that means something or just feels like YOU.

Jewelry is so personal and beautiful, and for generations, it’s been used to send a message about who someone is.

Today, there are SO many options for expressing yourself through jewelry. Personalized jewelry is also on the rise, like these coordinate jewelry on Etsy for marking a meaningful location in your life on a ring, bracelet or necklace. Conversation starting jewelry, if you will.

The same goes for wearing jewelry you received from someone you love, that has historical meaning to you or that you / a friend actually made. Handmade jewelry is the coolest.

It also comes down to your personal style, and the pieces that just feel like you.

I’m known for my affinity for big rings, dainty necklaces and layered jewelry. You may be known for your favorites too.

Whatever you love, own it. Wear it. Show it off.

It’s you.

2. Show off your favorite style of shoes.

Are you a sneakers gal? Love a good pair of chucks or crisp white tennis shoes?

Or maybe you’re head over heels for heels, and nothing makes you feel more you than a pair of stilettos or open-toed pumps.

Maybe you feel most you in a pair of fall booties or a strappy leather sandal for those cool summer nights.

Whatever your style, lean into it!

If there is one thing that can really bring your outfit together, it is the right shoes. So if the shoe fits, buy it!

3. Get a few graphic tees that show off your interests, hobbies and favorite things.

This is such an easy way to show the world who you are and what you love.

From The Beatles to Marvel superheroes to your favorite Jane Austen quote, you can start curating a wardrobe that is not only close to your heart but also expressive of what you love as a person.

Look for shirts with your favorite:

–Bands and artists

–Sports teams

–Movies and comic book characters

–Books and quotes

–Travel destinations

You can also wear shirts that show off who you are and what you believe in, like volunteer organizations, inspirational phrases and groups you support.

4. Rock your favorite colors, and don’t be afraid to be bold.

I can’t count the number of times I’ve been questioned about my love for red lipstick. Why do you always wear red? ….Because I love it. That’s it. That’s the answer.

Colors are an expression of you, whatever that may mean.

You may be a neutral kinda gal. Monochrome styles are safe, classy, and comfortable. If they’re your favorite, I totally get that.

Maybe you love bright and bold colors, a crisp red or bright orange or fun purple.

Whatever you decide, as long as the color feels like you, you’re rocking it.

5. Splurge on a few statement pieces and core accessories.

Statement pieces do just want they say they do, make a statement.

You can choose sunglasses that perfectly frame your face, a fun belt or even a big pair of hoop earrings that give you that #bighoopenergy.

I’m also a fan of big purses, cute backpacks, classy watches and sunglasses with a bright reflection. Maybe you also have a few pieces or styles that just scream you. Wear them! Show them off!

Splurge a little too on these items if you can, because you’re setting yourself up for years of complimenting your outfits and style.

Whatever kind of fashion style or trend you choose, remember that it doesn’t have to fit into a box.

It’s your personal ~aesthetic~ and you get to choose exactly what that means.
