Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, the Steel City. The city of bridges (that are horrifying to navigate during rush hour).
This iconic city has probably shown up on your radar in some way or another throughout the years whether you know the sports teams or it just happens to be the home of your favorite ketchup. It was also recently in the headlines due to the tragic Tree of Life Synagogue shootings, donate here.
Cities I have called home throughout my life include Boston, Philadelphia, and Dalian, China and I have to say that Pittsburgh is hands down my favorite.
Where to stay:
I am a HUGE proponent of air BNB I’ve never had a bad experience and you get to meet all kinds of cool people. As far as hotels I would say if you’re feeling fancy you definitely want to go to the Omni or Renaissance. They are GORGEOUS.
If you’re looking for something new and hip I highly recommend Tryp in Pittsburgh’s hip Lawrenceville neighborhood. It was JUST opened in July and is a redone schoolhouse. They feature local artists in each room, have a luxe rooftop bar and it has a very fresh vibe.
Things to do in Pittsburgh:
ANYTHING YOU WANT! Pittsburgh has a vibrant history, nightlife, music, sports, culture, art… like literally anything. I’ve compiled a list below of the sports stadiums and other AWESOME things you can do here.
Where to Eat & Drink:
Okay now here is where I am a literal expert. Here is a list of Pittsburgh magazine’s Best of Pittsburgh for further research. For places to eat, I will try to break out down by category.
There are so many things that I am sure I missed. Please come to Pittsburgh, spend a long weekend or stay awhile. Yinzers are some of the friendliest people around and I promise you will have an amazing time whatever you decide to do. Please drop your favorite Pittsburgh spots in the comments below!
